Pawpal Mobile App
Challenge: Pet owners struggled to keep track of vaccines, vet visits, medication, and day-to-day care for multiple pets. Existing apps were cluttered, inconsistent across platforms, and lacked reminders/health tracking that fit real life. The business wanted a mobile product that would increase retention, reduce missed appointments, and provide a delightful, trustworthy experience.
My Role: Lead UX/UI Designer (end-to-end) Responsibilities: Conducted user research, defined IA, created user flows and wireframes, Designed high-fidelity mobile screens and built an interactive prototype in Figma, Created the design foundations (colors, typography, components) used for the prototype, Ran usability testing and improved flows based on insights.
Key Features: Pet Profiles — multi-pet support with health timeline and records. Smart Reminders — vaccines, meds, grooming with snooze & repeat. Vet Booking — quick booking flow and appointment reminders. Activity & Health Logs — track walks, feeding, mood, symptoms. Emergency Quick Actions — one-tap call, nearest clinic map, and urgent notes.
Solution: Created a mobile-first information architecture focused on recurring tasks (reminders & appointments). Built a modular component set (cards, timeline, repeat reminders, forms) to support rapid iteration and consistent UI. Introduced a minimal, friendly visual language (rounded shapes, soft accents) to build user trust. Implemented accessibility rules (contrast, tappable areas, voice labels) to improve reach.
Outcome & Metrics: Prototype usability: Task success rate 92% (finding/setting a reminder). Estimated time to book an appointment reduced by 45% vs baseline flow. Retention prediction (projected, based on journey improvements): +18% (first-30-day retention uplift).
